June 4: It's root canal day, so while Ron's with the dentist, I walk the Damariscotta neighborhood. |
The river is lovely and still tidal here. |
Across the street this old New England buillding is part of New Castle. |
An now we're into late spring wildflowers...like lupine, |
 ...Indian paintbrush and.... |
...white violet! These are very dainty and growing in the shade below the sailboat in the backyard. |
June 6: Lorelei and Marta are here....it's a work weekend. Lorelei says it's time to check out the old toy corner! |
Surrounded by toys she waits for the blueberry muffins to bake. |
Then it's time to play with the periscope while she eats... |
....her muffin...the biggest one she could find! |
 What fun! |
 |
 |
Then there's time to relax with Mom before she has to leave just before 11:00 AM. |
That's not too bad and we are excited.. |
about our plans to go to the playground even if... |
...it doesnt' particularly look like it! |
 It's relaxing time! |
Then at the playground there's time for the merry-go-round, |
 What fun..."Push me, Grammie!" |
 a speedy slide... |
 ....and a covered one. |
Seeing lots of bigger kids there gives little kids ideas about what they could do on the slide...hot dogger! |
Watch me, Papa!! I can hang from the monkeybars! |
 Yard wildflowers are still... |
 ...growing nearby. |
Lupine is a little ahead of itself again this year, but they are probably... |
...the prettiest wildflowers in Maine...espcially when they grow by coves like this one! |
June 6 Ends with Lorelei beggin Papa for bites of his... |
...Klondike and she wants her OWN! |
June 7: Starts with a rest on Mom's lap. |
Then it's time to get ready to go home...because the hair didin't get washed last night.... |
...today it needs to be braided. |
And someone isn't very happy about it. It hurts even though... |
 ...Mom is pretty gentle. |
OUCH! It hurts and someone... |
....isn't very happy about it! |
 Almost done, thank God! |
Playing with Grammie's Monopod and her Cat in the Hat doll. |
 She pretends it's a camera. |
 |
 Alfalfa reads to us. |
I don't think he realizes his hair is.... |
Someone is silly as she... |
 ....reads to.... |
Auntie Jeanne before going home. |
 June 9: It's Lorelei's Step Up day celebration. |
Her class shares their favorite songs and fingerplays from.... |
 ...the past year. |
They sing one about flowers and to be a flower, I guess... |
....you hide under your dress! |
June 13: It's Pirate Day in Damariscotta, so our little pirate gets painted to go. |
Then we stop for a snack....Lorelei has raspberry lemonade. |
There's time to spend with a mermaid book. |
Outside there's a pirateship slide to play on and Lorelei.... |
...finds a dashing matie to play with. |
We stop for her to open her candy and eat it on a bench. |
There are some pretty amazing costumes! |
And everyone lines up to be judged for authenticity. |
closer still it's easy to see that they got into the spirit. |
 Wenches and Scotts! |
June 17: This little guy was crossing the road when we walked by...I think he's a ... |
...garter snake. What think you? |
The lupine are still blossoming! |
 And they're still pretty! |
And there are actually blueberries...not ripe ones, but berries nonetheless! |
Blackberries are still just flowers. stay tuned... |
Lorelei playing with her food; peek-a-boo! I see you! |
June 21: Father's Day finds us in Portland meeting.. |
 ...Clay at Flatbread's. |
 Yummmmmm!!! Blueberry soda! |
 Everyone is finally here. |
Lorelei gets pizza dough to play with while she waits to eat. GREAT IDEA! |
Father and daughter have a conversation. |
It's a hot fudge brownie for dessert and she eats it almost all by herself! |
 Leaving Flatbread... |
Lorelei finds something to play on. |
and a pidgeon to watch. |
Even on an overcast day, the waterfront is pretty. |
Then we all say 'Good-bye.' |
June 23 is Pemaquid Poet's Day, so I go to the usual haunts... |
and even though it's a cloudy day, the flowers and |
 ...scenes are lovely! |
 Don't you think? |
In New Harbor the lobsta shop has t-shirts for sale! |
AM June 23: It's Windjammer Days and the town is deserted! It's a day much like any other with people going fishing... |
...tourists sitting watching the world go by and... |
....desserted adirondacks at Ocean Point! |
June 24: Day Two of Windjammer Days and ... |
....though it's very overcast; foggy if anything, |
...the weather makes for lovely imagary and .... |
we end up at the Tugboat with a window on the harbor! |
They come parading into the harbor....one, two, three, four, five of them! |
Later we drive over to the other side of the harbor for another perspective. |
 |
The Old Nellie B and one of the schooners. |
What a way to enjoy the parade! |
But other people are still more interested in fishing! |
And some patriots watch in the moisture...no fear, old faithful will protect her! |
June 25: The morning after, the schooners are still in port and... |
,,,it is very foggy, but that just adds to... |
,,,the mystery of the harbor! |
There's something about fog that... |
...makes one appreciate weather even when... |
...it's not particularly wonderful (by most standards). |
 But I think I love this! |
And I'm not alone...other people are out shooting the vessels this AM! |
At Boothbay Harbor Boatyard, there's a square rigger, the Friendship of Salem, in for rehauling! |
June 26 We head out to Charlemont for the Barroll/Kubicek wedding. |
 What a beautiful setting... |
...in a lovely gathering of friends and family! |
The Father of the Bridge---Oops! Bride! |
Hello Mother of the Bride! |
 |
Mother and Father of the Groom (Ron just happens to be standing nearby). |
 Wedding time! |
And time for a kiss! |
 The ceremony's over... |
Kids wait for the wedding party to arrive... |
Time to take a load off and enjoy the kids |
Later, it's the first dance... |
 |
 |
 Yummmmmmmieeeee! |
 Brian and Jayne |
 For the toast! |
 ...a toast! |
 Mom and Dad |
 It's a FAMILY! |
Joanna reads her tribute to the couple... |
and then it's high fives from friends! |
A dress needs the bow tied. |
June 27, We journey to Williamstown, MA with Rich and Frances. |
Ron finds his favorite tiger painting at the Clark Museum. |
He shows it to Rich. |
The galleries are just amazing! Over 1000 works of art collected by one family! |
Another view of the same gallery. |
What a tangle of women! |
Interesting way of portraying a family! |
 Lots of silver here. |
One of the first galleries in the old section of the building. |
And there is this amazing piano!! |
 Same piano. |
It's a quite amazing instrument, but I wonder how it SOUNDS? |
Time to check out the bookstore. |
 There's a whole Renoir gallery! |
 Good-bye, Clark Museum! |
Bridge of Flowers is our next stop. |
Later we walk the Bridge of Flowers in Buckland. |
We were lucky to be here when the river was lilke a mirror! |
 |
And then FROM the bridge....there are roses! |
Then we stop at a Swedish weaver's where they teach weaving. Here's their classroom! |
 Another loom |
 Colorful street paraphenalia |
Then it was time to check out the Glacial Potholes. |
The potholes are below a dam....a precarious looking dam! |
On the way to potholes, we find a glass shop. |
 Overlook for the potholes. |
Some Artsy/Fartsy Stufff from the |
Clark Museum (Thank you, Singer Sewing machine company!) |
June 28 Starts with togetherness reflected in bed sheets! |
We have breakfast with Rich and Frances |
Once on the road, it's still dark and wet! |
On the way home, we stop for brunch (that will hold us well into the evening!) and find this lovely lilypond! |
We make a side trip to Bedford, the scene of the 'crime.' This is the school we worked at when we met! |
And here they are....the culprits! |
Ron looks for his office, but can't see a thing! |
Looking for rooms we can't see. |
