Portland, Maine



We start to explore the only major city within easy traveling distance from home. Today was errand day, so we didn't take very much time to explore or photograph, but this is what I got.

We start at the museum where art classes bring people to the galleries.

I would love to check out/photograph Deering, but know so little about it. Did a search and found some info. Please email me with more info if you are serious about wanting images. I'd love to further explore this area!!

Hey hey. Some unique and lovely stuff. Thanks. But it's all the yuppified town, not the beautiful, grimy old town that was slaughtered by the cognoscenti in the 60s. For sure, many of the gaps, and the artless new structures, are tombstones of some remarkable old structures and streetscapes.
Check out Deering, still beautiful and kind of authentic. Before the Univ. of Southern Maine gobbles it up. Please record it for us.

Hi Beth,

I am originally from Scarborough, right outside of Portland. I married a Navy guy and moved to Charleston SC in 1985, but miss home so much and hope to one day move back. Excellent pictures...they made me homesick all over again! Thanks for the awesome trip down memory lane.

I shoot with a Canon 1D and a Canon S500 Elph....but mostly the 1D. It's a great camera and lots of fun to use. Good luck getting acquainted with Portland. It's a very nice small city!
