Sept. 30, We head out for our yearly PA visit. |
Coming down 79 toward Pittsburgh there are .... |
 ....lovely farms. |
We visit the old stomping ground...Camberly Drive hasn't changed much.....nor... |
.....has valleyfield except for the size of the trees. |
The old homestead is pretty similar to what it was. |
Our little trees have grown. |
 Then Wagner's Market was fun....it too hadn't changed. |
Pittsburgh is still a beautiful city with all it's bridges. |
Crossing the liberty bridge we look back at the city. |
Michaele's doggies are so cute! |
The pair of cuties pose. |
And we are greeted with a welcoming raiinbow out through Michaele's backyard. |
Day 2: We head downtown on the T. |
A dino greets us at Steel Plaza. |
And the noon church bells are chiming as we approach Steel Center. |
The Union Trust Building is as gorgeous as ever. |
And our favorite hotel lobby hasn't changed except it has fewer palms. |
Ron in Mellon Square with architecture behind....it's everywhere you turn! |
Heinz Hall and ???? what's it called? It changes. |
Then we cross the Roberto Clemente bridge to get a glimpse of PNC Park. |
 It's a lovely bridge. |
 ....from any angle! |
And the good old black and gold hangs around. |
The Fulton Building is a new find. What a beauty! |
Was once a disco; a hospital and now a hotel! |
Then it's on to Nicolas Coffee/Tea where the selection is ..... |
 .....always superior. |
WE notice lots more African Americans around and wonder if this explains it???? |
A stack of Terrible Towels for sale in Honus Wagner's store. |
Then it's lunch at the Tic Toc. |
Inside the Union Trust where the manager tells us this building would cost $4 BILLION to build today!! |
ANd we can see why! |
Then it's back to the T for our trip out of town. |
Riding the trains is always fun! |
 Ron at Michaele's. |
Day 3: First stop, the Phipps. |
Where we are greeted by recent acquisitions.... |
 ....Chihuly's glass sculptures. |
It's 'Chocolate Time' and the pink flamingoes are everywhere! |
 WE love this place! |
The Butterfly exhibit still has some hangers on. |
 More Chihuly.... |
....and more of the same. |
Neighborhoods from the back of the Phipps. |
Then it's time to head out to the Museum. |
 A Paleontologist at work. |
 The new Dinosaur.... |
 ...exhibit is fantastic! |
Wall paintings illustrate what the skeletons would look like alive. |
And here's another example of painted walls. |
These Rexes look like they are fighting over a corpse. |
Another perspective on the competition. |
These stairs in the middle of the exhibit are lovely..... |
....as are these in the old building. |
Ron shoots one of his favorites. |
The galleries here are beautiful and comfortable. |
Wish these were capturable, but.... |
 ....a 2 dimensional medium just doesn't do it! |
Day 4: We go to Liz's for dinner... |
.....time to enjoy a glass of wine. |
And meet the new pet. |
Miss Lizzie serves shells with meatballs and salad! YUMMMMMMM!!! |
Her kitty knocks the curtains down and Ron helps her put them back. |
 Still helping.... |
 Time to leave. |
 Roxie hides. |
Day 5: Another trip downtown (Sorry it's askew!) |
and we walk across our favorite bridge from.... |
 ....Station Square. |
 Yup! |
where you can see the bridge from the grounds. |
IThere are lovely views of the city from here. |
The boat slips are new. |
 Just love this bridge!! |
Pittsburgh is pretty from many perspectives. |
 Including this one! |
The old city kneels in front of the new rising behind! |
Don't ya just love the guy w/ the pick-ax? |
Sorry! I didn't realize how many shots I forgot to rotate! |
These lions were always favorites ..... and the bank |
....building is almost as pretty...Dollar Bank! |
Don't ya just love this street? |
The face of the city.... |
 ....is changing! |
 Oops! Not another one!!?? |
Yup!! But some things stay the same ...... or we hope to keep them the same by |
....capturing them on 'film.' This will soon become Macy's, we fear! |
Steel Plaza subway platform....new to us! |
Then it's off to New York and a family reunion at Priscilla's house. Here Ron and Pris check out the china cabinet for treasures |
 Marley's bedroom.....a princess's lair! |
Ron and Priscilla check out the yard. |
Joe is recuperating from cataract surgery and a blood clot! You GO, Joe!! |
It's Jordan Marsh blueberry muffins for breakfast...yummmmmmmyyyyy!!!! |
Ron and Jackson try out Joe's chair. |
Priscilla and Jackson getting out of the car at.... |
 ....Saratoga Battlefield. |
 Look, Jackson! It's a display! |
But the binky is just as interesting at this age (2 years old). |
 Check it out. |
Pictures are fun to look at! |
And the trees are beautiful! |
 |
Marley's been in school, but we go to her house for the baseball game... |
and she and her brother stay awake despite their busy days. |
 Tired? NOPE!! |
 Jon and Marley. |
Joe and Eric watch the game, then.... |
....Jake and his girl drop by. |
 Finally, Marley falls asleep! |
The next day there is a new baby in the neighborhood! |
Priscilla and Joe's house is beautiful in the fall. |
 This is out back. |
Sorry I forgot to rotate images again! |
Lunch time at the gathering. |
Then time to put candles on Rick's cake. |
 The Montreal family arrives. |
Priscilla delivers the cake...says it was sliding. |
Rick blows out the sparkler.... |
....give it a BIG one, Rick! |
 Cheers for Rick! |
 It's a crowd!! |
 What's so funny, Eric? |
 Ron and Rich |
Jackson and Jackie...the two Jacks! |
Then it's time to take a walk and avoid the speedsters. |
The Last day....we enjoy each other. |
Rich shows off his piano skills. |
 As does Frances. |
 Something's funny. |
As Ron reads Priscilla's book from Joe. |
 We go pumpkin shopping. |
 ....at a nearby farm. |
 Isn't it pretty? |
 You BET!! |
Then we stop at Eric's house to see... |
 ....Eric and Eva's horses.... |
 Can't remember her name. |
 But isn't she pretty? |
And they have a pond full of fish. |
Throwing bread brings them to the surface where a BIG BUGGER tries to eat them! |
Everyone gets into the act. |
Priscilla's garden flowers are so pretty! |
 Everyone enjoys lobster....on special. |
And it's candle lighting time in the kitchen for Jake's birthday. |
Put 17 candles on the ice cream cake! |
Time to sing, "Happy Birthday," by candlelight. |
After hearing Eric's truck stories, we worry about things like this! |
Yes, there ARE still colorful leaves up here! |
