Picking them up at the airport, this man is standing nearby....Arab??? He speaks English! |
Breakfast: Day One |
PM: Pemaquid, Michaele puts her shoes on...better to climb ledges! |
And here's what we have come.... |
....to see! This and.... |
....this! Ledges to the sea in front of the light. |
Liz walks down to get a better view. |
Ron and Michaele in front of the light getting ready to come here... |

...to the ledges. |
Oh, Look! A Chipmunk...TWO chipmunks! |
It's chilly and wet, but lovely just the same! |
Back in Damariscotta, we check out the sales and.... |
....make a visit to the bookstore. |
Michaele and... |
...Liz write postcards home at the bookstore cafe. |
And we all get ready to go home for lunch. |
While everyone naps, Ron reads to Roosevelt News. |
The first evening, we go to Brown's Wharf... |
...for dinner. What's on the menu? |
Lobster, Lobster, Lobster, turkey and clams! |
Delicious ....and good company too! |
After dinner, we go onto the wharf... |
....to look at the harbor.... |
....and take pictures. |
Michaele captures.... |
....this!! |
Then we go to explore the Catholic Church...Our Lady of Peace. |
And the evening ends in peace..... |
....the epitomy of peace! |
Day Two: Starts at Robinson's Wharf... |
....where we lunch outside. |
These triplets eat at the next table. |
It's a cloudy, but pleasant day. |
And the food is good. |
Michaele |
We stop back in town to pick up our cruise tickets for Thursday night. |
Then it's off to Enchantments, a mystical store... |
....where Michaele can't get enough and we wait outside. |
Liz checks out the price on the mermaid. |
Then we giftshop hop...view from rear window. |
Day 3: Belted Galloway cows outside Camden. |
We take the ferry to Islesboro and this stained glass window is in the ferry terminal. |
Islesboro is a small island in Penobscott Bay. |
To get there, we take a 20 minute ferry ride across the bay.... |
...and arrive in Gilkey Harbor. |
This is the one of a few churches on the island. |
And this is the lovely tree of life window inside. |
But the Baptists are not to be out-done. How often can this be seen anywhere? |
A lovely, old, apple orchard on the island. |
And since it's a island, there is water all around... |
...with a lighthouse to greet... |
....and send off as the ferry slips away from the dock. |
There are gorgeous views to enjoy as we ferry back to the mainland. |
Time for conversation and... |
....picture-taking. |
At the slip, people walk off the ferry. |
Then we head for Mt. Battie outside Camden to catch the view and eat our picnic. |
Here's the view... |
....and here's Michaele talking w/ Carol. |
Then Ron talks to Carol as... |
....Liz catches the scenery! |
Day 4: Waiting for our cruise on the Bay Lady. Michaele gets her snuggies on. |
Waiting to sail. |
Casting off from the dock and... |
....raising the sails is woman's work! |
Half way up.... |
....we're off! The water is cold! |
Soaking up the sun and breezes |
The Bay Lady at the dock...first boat. |
Day Five: Starts at the Ocean Point Inn for breakfast followed by... |
....a drive around the Point. We find Teddy & Charlie trying... |
....to make some money selling seashore treasures and we BITE! |
We then check out the small chapel where Liz makes another 3 wishes.... |
....and we enjoy the stained glass. |
Then it's back to Pemaquid... |
.....where we walk down to ledges to sit.... |
....by the water, |
...to talk and .... |
....enjoy the sound of the surf. |
The ledges at this place are hard to capture to show their true mass... |
....and expanse, but we'll try! |
These shots show... |
...the immensity of the place. |
Our visit ends with a picnic. |
Other people are here to see the views.... |
....which include this scene from the bell house. |
That evening we head out for a Booze and Schmooze Cruise....(How did you like that alliteration?) |
....where we catch a foggy sunset....now and |
Later. |
Day 7: Finds Michaele & Liz reading on the deck... |
....while we wait for.... |
....a high school buddy of Ron's to show up for.... |
....a short reminisce and visit. |
Then it's off for lunch at the fisherman's Co-op and... |
....a final sail on the Bay lady. |
It's a calm ride, so the captain has time to give us the history of the Friendship sloop. |
The sails go up and .... |
....we're on our way around Boothbay Harbor. |
We won't soon forget this young lady...ask Liz about it! |
The last evening we have dinner at Brown's wharf where Michaele works hard eating twins! |
Outside it's foggy, but the old salt is bathed in artificial light. |
Go'in home day: Morning reading... |
....after packing. |
In Portland, we make a stop at Hamilton Marine to get out of the rain... |
....even the big jackets look good in this weather! |
Then it's full circle and we're back at Portland Jetport for... |
....a sad 'farewell.' See you again SOON---we HOPE! |
