October 8: We leave Whitefish and train our way through the mountains on the route we took 2 days ago by car only this time.. |
....Ron doesn't have to drive and we can see.. |
....the lovely scenery from the quiet and peace of our roomette. See the train sheds on the hillside across the way? |
And see the train trailing behind us? |
Fall has come with snow AND colorful yellow leaves. |
 More snow.... |
...and mimosas served in the train....what a way to go! |
 Pretty, huh? |
The mountains are covered in snow and it's blowing around! |
Then from the plains beyond the mountains we can see them... |
 ....for miles and... |
 miles and ... |
....miles. The oblisk on the hillside is the Lewis & Clark Monument! |
Typical scenes from the route ... |
...can't remember where this was, but somewhere in Montana or N. Dakota? |
Oct. 9 Brings us into the midwestern farm country where we see lots of... |
...these and they sometimes put... |
 ...him to sleep. |
Train yards can be colorful! |
 Minneapolis-St. Paul dawns sunny. |
And you can see the importance of bridges! |
Then it's on to cornfield America and... |
And we see our first touches of real fall! |
...the wide, wide Mississippi which.. |
...is quite calm this morning.... |
It looks more like a lake except for the hydro plants. |
The clouds have lots of sky for their show. |
And it's obvious that the river isn't deep in many places. |
Columbus is one of our last stops before Chicago... |
Guess the milwaukee teams play here??? |
