June 1: Bus Station, Portland.	Route One heading toward Boston...	...it's just one GD business after another!
Tony meets us in...	Boston!
We kill time in the Businessman's club where...	....a very nice lady tells us what we can do there.	We sit and talk til...
it's almost;...	time to...
....go.	There's a very interesting ceiling in the club.	More of same...

Headed toward Albany we find a few interesting things and...	....lots of decay. Infrastructure is going fast!	But the churches look prosperous as ever!
An old mill...	and passengers in coach.	Reflections of baggage and passing countryside in coach.
Albany station at...	....Rensselaer	And we're on our way to Chicago!!
We get settled in...	...then the porter makes the bed and we scidaddle to the hallway.	Next day: June 2: we approach Chicago.
After breakfast in the dining car.	Near Chicago	Ron reads USA Today.
The closer we get; the more industrial it looks.	Then we find apartments in Chinatown.	Finally....CHICAGO and Mr. C!!
Union Station...Underground...	...and lounge.	Ron sees this one on the way to Mitchell's for an early lunch.
"Smile," he instructs!	Mitchell's lunch counter.	We are told that the owner of this building committed suicide last week by jumping off the roof!
Another shot of Ron's vision!	Then he sees THIS!	Stone stairs worn by years of feet!
Light pole detail....	....pole and light.	This is a grande old station!
And everyone is busy trying to capture the event.	A sign of the times!!	Ron writes to Lorele from the lounge!
A typical view of the Sears Tower as we leave Chicago.	Then there's champagne on the train!	And lovely clouds in the sky.
We keep busy photographing the passing scenery.	Which is not always beautiful!	A stadium outside Milwaukee.
Then it rains and siblings must....	...fight over the umbrella!	Typical Farm scene.
June 3 dawns and we are the last car on the train!	Guess we lost one in the night.	It's still nearly dark, but the sky is beginning...
...to brighten as the train pulls ahead.	Ron goes to 'shoot' it too!	A lovely yellow house somewhere West of Chicago.
And we stop in the observation car along the way.	North Dakota outside...	....the train window.
...with a lovely red barn.	It's clouds and rain off and on...	....all day.
Ron	Another red barn.	and more pretty clouds.
Somewhere out West this building painting is too good....	...to pass up!	Nearby..
Fields and horizons make for fantastic views.	I've always loved grain elevators!	Signs of kids greet us in Montana
	And the first view of mountains are the Bear Paws where Chief Joseph surrendered to...	...the US Cavalry.
More farm implements...or signs of farming.	And a locomotive in Havre, Montana...	....and this statue...signs of friendship.
Met this guy on the train and he is from Manchester, NH...small world!	It's a windmill farm near Glacier!	Then our first sighting of the Rockies!

Just as gorgeous as ever, but this year we are not stopping to stay.	We ride the train through the park and see the monument to the Continental Divide.	Glacier...
Glacier...	And one of our favorite waterfalls!	Plum Creek in Whitefish...a nightmare come to Maine!
We get off at Whitefish for a quick 'Hello.'	...to the old rail station.
June 4 dawns wet!	And we're motoring by the Columbia River.	on an overcast morning!
Ron eats breakfast with a view.	Another windmill farm along the Columbia.	Fog reaches down to the river.
but every now and then there's a break in the clouds and it's	....gorgeous! Come back for more...Ron and Jordan to follow...
