Farm workers toil outside the city. |
Approaching Milwaukee |
There's construction in Milwaukee. |
In LaCrosse, Wisconsin, the train stops and I get out to 'shoot.' |
Leaving the upper mid-west, the La Crosse River is gorgeous at sunset. |
We lose 3 hours overnight to engine trouble, so get to see.. |
...some territory we've slept through on other trips. |
Old buildings abound ....as do birds, but they are too fast and we're moving making it hard to capture them! |
But there's plenty of water from a wet spring for the ducks that are everywhere! |
And then in the middle of farm country somewhere in North Dakota, THIS appears! |
Through ND and Eastern Montana these farm roads stretch to the horizon through vast, flat land! |
Then in Western ND, these formations give our eyes a rest from FLAT! |
Dusk and the MOUNTAINS appear across this vast flatness! |
As the sun sets, the hills become luminous! |
For Lynne: Yes, there ARE horses here...for dogfood or rodeo? Who knows! A coral-full! Sorry for the jiggle! |
And then in BIG SKY country, a storm approaches from far away! |
They don't call it BIG SKY country for nothing! |
The curtain falls and lights from a small town below jump with the train's movement! Kind of interesting! |
June 14: Getting ready for our first day in Montana. Check for the best map and guide. |
Our hotel: Best Western Rocky Mt. Inn |
Then we drive by the Flathead Lake, largest this side of the Mississippi....so they say. Gorgeous! Photos nor words do justice! |
