 Crate races bring out those not afraid of 42 degree water and getting wet. |
 Cameras are everywhere and we learn... |
 that it's the small fry who fair best in this race. |
 People in the crowd bring their dogs. |
 And at the Fire Hall.... |
 ...there's a craft show where jewelry is made and.... |
 ...chefs display their wares. |
 April 30: On the second day of the Fisherman's Festival, the Blessing of the Fleet... |
 ...takes place at Our Lady of Peace and the Fisherman's Memorial. |
 Across the Harbor a couple is getting married onboard a fishing vessel..perfect timing! |
 The priest and ministers read the names of the lost and there are many... |
 ...going back to the early 1800's! |
 Participants bow their heads in prayer. |
 Then it's on to the wharf where the priest gives each passing boat his blessing and a sprinkle of Holy Water. |
 A parade of lobster boats passes... |
 ...to collect their blessings for a safe fishing season! |
 Friends and family participate in the event on this ... |
 ....lovely spring day! |
 And the wedding party takes this opportunity to get in line to collect good wishes/blessings too. |
 and to celebrate on this day honoring the seafarers of the area! |
