In a job that has done so much, for so little, for way too long, it was a refreshing site to see nine Bridgeport firefighters (and one spouse) taking time away from their families and part-time jobs to lend a helping hand.
On Saturday, August 11th their volunteer efforts combined to advance progress on the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (www.habitatcfc.org) works in partnership with the community and families in need to build simple, decent, affordable housing. To date they have built or rehabilitated over 100 dwelling units in the City of Bridgeport.
The new construction single-family home at 1235 Kossuth Street will provide 1270 sq. ft. of living space for future owner Antonia Lopez and her two children. The targeted completion date is December of this year. Antonia was on site this day to help prepare food for the troops.
