Mystic Scooter Crash Victim ID'd

Mystic - Police have identified the man seriously injured in a motorized scooter crash Monday afternoon as 50-year-old Robert Carlson. Police said Carlson, of 52 Linda Lane, Old Mystic, crashed into a utility pole on Pequot Trail near the intersection of Route 27. He was driving the scooter west on Pequot Trail when he lost control at the bottom of the steep, curving hill and went off the side of the road, striking the pole. Police said it did not appear that Carlson was wearing a helmet. Carlson was flown by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital after the 12:33 p.m. accident. He was listed Tuesday night in critical condition.

A local man was seriously injured early this afternoon when his motorized scooter crashed into a utility pole on Pequot Trail near the intersection of Route 27 in Old Mystic. The man was flown by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital after the 12:33 p.m. accident. The accident took place as the man reached the bottom of a steep, curving hill. His name was not immediately available.
