This plane was introduced into the Pacific Theater in 1943. It was a real surprise to the Japanese fighter pilots.It equaled or past the performance of the Zero in every category except slow turning flight. By 1944 this plane became known as "THE ACE MAKER"
One of the great fighter planes of the Marines and Navy in World War II.
