Hello Dan,
It has been a long haul tracking down Mr. Rodriguez. He sent me a picture he has of a headbadge. It is painted as I believe yours was also at one time. You may find the paint scheme interesting. It would go well with your current yellow. I am hoping for more communiques from Angel but he is very slow to respond.

Hello,
I bought an Ives frame in 1975 from R+E cycles in Seattle. Angel Rodriguez (the R) had bought a number of them because they were complete campy. He was able to sell the campy parts for more than he paid for the complete bikes. Sadly he was collecting head badges and I foolishly traded him the headbadge in return for some fender braze ons. I have always loved this bike but as the years have past I have really grown to appreciate what a beautiful compromise is this frame. It is fun to ride but rock solid stable at every speed. The frame is stiff and responsive yet doesn't pound you to death on a rough road. In '76 I put 6000 miles on it crossing the US. I spent 5 years commuting to work in Seattle 25 miles round trip. I even fitted it with larger tires in the 80's and rode some mountain trails here in the NW. Angel is on the board at REI so I am going to email him about my headbadge and Ives history.
