Our first stop in Italy was Rome. We rented bicycles there and were pleased to find that due to a Rolling Stones concert that night, the roads near the Colosseum were closed to vehicle traffic. We were permitted to go wherever we wanted on our bikes. A couple of times, we ran up against security tape but when we asked, the police lifted it for us and allowed us to go through.
