Starling at Bondi Beach

My bird expert, Ken Ealy, tells me that this is a European Starling in breeding plumage. Ken noted that this breeding "plumage" is a result of wear on the non-breeding plumage. The feather tips wear off during the winter, which allows for one molt a year - a huge energy saver.

Dan, of all the birds in Australia, you photograph a starling! Neat birds but you have them in CA, don't you? Made me laugh when I saw it! Nice shot though.
