08 AUG 07 SNAKE TRAINING

We had training today about snakes and snake bites
The handler/educator is Mr. Jimmi Bonavita, A biologist with the Navy

Now, granted, there isn't too much concern about snakes dentally . . .
But I found it immensely interesting, nonetheless

LOTS of body language going on here

For instance . . did you know you should NOT apply a tourniquet to, cut into the wound NOR suction out the venom of a bite???
A light ligature is best (something loose enough to slip a finger or two under, but tight enough to apply SLIGHT pressure above the bite)

Then the expert brought out some snakes . . .
We were mesmerized!

This Asian cobra was VERY active . . . so much so it actually got off the table & away from the guy
But he was fast & got it back again

=)

The girl sitting in the back does not look happy to be there and the guy on the front row is loving every minute of it! I love all the expressions and the lady in front is thinking....if that thing comes anywhere near me, I'm outa here! I see a little fear there! Great shot!
