20 NOV 05 COTTON

In the midst of sprawling suburbia is a cotton farm that just pops out of the landscape with it's field of white

And for those of you who live near here and asked, this is on Princess Anne just before the courthouse and jail

The other choice for today is a stream/brook/canal/river (I dunno WHAT it is)

I've never seen cotton this close before. That is, when it's not already part of a sweater...

I accidently voted because I wanted to. I just think this is so cool and it makes me want to throw the dogs in the car and come down to visit you and the cotton farm. I can get no sense of the size of this because it appears to be about 6-12 inches and I am guessing it isn't. But oh so cool.

To echo Karen...I have lived in North Carolina for more than ten years, but have somehow managed to avoid learning anything about cotton farming. I had no idea it looked just like cotton balls. Thanks for the great pic (and the free agricultural lesson) :-)

So that's where it comes from. It actually looks like cotton balls. Wonderful texture and color.

Gonna jump down, turnaround,

I love the shot of this cotton boll, especially with the light shining on the top part.

It's really a beautiful thing, isn't it? I love the dark pod with the delicate fingerlike skin..not to mention the fluffy white cotton itself. The soft background works very well with this image too. GMV.
