19 JAN 05 CLASSES CANCELLED

due to SNOW . . . .

Can you BELIEVE this?!?!?!
One eighth of an inch and this place is SHUT DOWN

I swear . . . I love Virginia . . . . However

Sometimes I truly wonder about the "Powers that BE"
CLosing classes for this??

I guess it's all those years I lived up North . . . just makes ya wonder . . .

This time last year . . . and I wish I was where these are from right about NOW =]

Anna, that blue horizontal line at the top is the famous "stoopid blue line" I've been cursed with ever since I dunked the camera in the Atlantic Ocean last July =(

OK, I'm not going to comment on this..except to say that I'm not going to comment....
Anna Yu21-Jan-2005 05:50
Hehe we need at least 1 meter snow before we figure out it's winter..... What's that horizonal line near the top?
Stu20-Jan-2005 23:24
What snow!!!! LOL!
Lee Rudd20-Jan-2005 19:32
Virginia is much like england... doesnt get enough snow to know how to cope when something like this happens. Nice colours though.
Jim B20-Jan-2005 12:15
Is that a snowplow heading in the distance heading in your direction?
Karen Stuebing20-Jan-2005 11:01
Looks like it pretty slippery too judging from the tire tracks. Of course, people just don't know how to drive in snow. Now watch, I'll slide off the road today for saying that. :)

That's snow - you can still see the markings for the parking bays! Sorry to hear that Pete. I try to avoid London whenever there's snow, for exactly the same reason - they close things down, usually the runway I'm about to use.
Guest 20-Jan-2005 07:39
whaaaat....a little shave ice and people are freaking out!
Karen Leaf20-Jan-2005 03:43
I need to move to VA. Or Cuba.
Guest 20-Jan-2005 03:29
LOL! I thought it was due to extremely slippery conditions as seen on the marks.

It looks like a beautiful evening. I hope you enjoyed your night off from school.
Larry Ahern20-Jan-2005 02:45
Nice shot! Love the lines.
Guest 20-Jan-2005 01:46
Now, do they have St. Bernards on standby with the survival kits around their necks for stranded motorists?! LOL

Nice photo, love the white balance.

Are you still taking that Chem. class? And I agree, doesn't look like takes much to shut down your area. (If they only knew what real snow looked like.).
I see a streak across the top. Is that the camera or is it the car window?
Leo Charette20-Jan-2005 01:38
Well, they didn't cancel work... but dang it took forever to get home. Folks didn't want to go too fast with all the snow you know, and me being from Maine originally. Heck, for driver's Ed we were taken to the slickest ice covered parking lot and taught how to straighten out after doing a donut on the ice, LOL.

Great shot Pete... it tells the story perfectly! Though we got a bit more snow than you did.
Faye White20-Jan-2005 01:12
It's the same here - a minor dusting of snow and the city shuts down. 'Cool' capture Pete! ;)
Guest 20-Jan-2005 01:09
And you probably have accidents all over the city.Nice shot.
jude20-Jan-2005 00:53
Great photo, Pete.. I like the tire designs in the snow (I laugh at this being called snow).. we had a storm last night and tonight that left a foot.

And schools were NOT closed.

I still would rather live in Virginia..LOL

Bunch of woossies..hehehe !! Nice shot of the wheel tracks, think one set belongs to Wells Fargo, LOL!
John Finlayson20-Jan-2005 00:05
Nice shot, like the leading lines from the tire tracks in the snow.
Guest 19-Jan-2005 23:31
Love those tire marks!!! great capture.
Guest 19-Jan-2005 23:30
Oi!

I'm from Newfoundland where we get a lot of snow. Now I live in Toronto and am often amused at how little snow it takes to bring this city to a screeching halt. If the same rules applied to Newfoundland, they'd just close the province in November and reopen it in May!! LOL!
Guest 19-Jan-2005 23:17
LOL.....bet hey if your a student I bet it is to much snow to drive in!!!
katwilkens19-Jan-2005 23:11
I like the snarl of car tracks in the snow.
Guest 19-Jan-2005 23:10
Nothing gets cancelled here when it's snowing.
I love this picture and I wish you could send some of that snow to Belgium, you got my adress LOL
Gilles Navet19-Jan-2005 23:10

LOL you should try it here in the UK, the trains stop if the wrong leaves are on the lines let alone if it snows!

In Rome it is necessary at least one fourth of an inch to block everything. That's civilization boys... :-)
