24 APR04 REDWING BLACKBIRD

I originally MISlabeled this as Baltimore Oriole . . which it OBVIOUSLY is not!!!
Thanks to jypsee for reminding me . . .duuuh!

Any way . . .
Sitting in the swing in the backyard after potting some plants
And after filling the bird feeders, bird bath, & cutting the grass . . .

We sat just enjoying the light breeze and the evening songs

This guy was nice enough to pose

Good catch. The light was shining on him just right for the colors.

Seems he was surprised by something, maybe by the shutter noise! Beautiful colors here.

Nicely done - the composition here is lovely. Birds are a really difficult subject, I have learned personally. If you visit my gallery...not a bird shot there. LOL

Butterflies and NOW BIRDS! I am green with envy I am. Putting that aside for a moment; this is wonderful and I too would have thought it to be a Oriole. So striking he/she is. And this is such a well captured shot.

Nice! I don't think I've ever seen a red winged black bird before.

"Oriole" is very much more creative than "Redwinged Blackbird", imho ;-)

Great shot of a red winged blackbird. These guys aren't easy to expose for. The color is wonderful.

Is he trying to sneak into your house through this?
Very pretty wing
Guest 25-Apr-2004 04:09
My gradfather loved to look for birds and the redwinged blackbird is the first bird I remember him pointing out to me.... Nice capture...

Junipers...I don't think I've seen a juniper in someone's yard since I left Virginia.
Funny the things you notice.
Nice to have birds posing for you.

jypsee25-Apr-2004 03:18
mmmm...it's actually a redwing blackbird; a harbinger of spring where I come from in Wisconsin.
Guest 25-Apr-2004 03:12
