As I recalled the events of this date just eight years ago, I, like everyone else, can recall vividly exactly where I was.
It helped that I had written a very detailed journal of that day.
Just like I did when Kennedy died.
Over the years, I have always been impressed how I "remembered" that day in November . . .
and then re-read my version (from a high school writing assignment) and discovered how inaccurate my perfect memory was.
I suggest everyone do the same.
Our memories are dynamic, that is to say, they change over the years.
Our memories are influenced by our (current)life's experiences.
We don't have digital recorders in there.
And recalling the events of 9-11 in twenty or thirty or fifty years is going to get fuzzy and confusing at best.
Write everything you can recall . . every minute detail . . . down somewhere.
Keep it safely tucked away. (DO try to remember where.)
Or, for you bloggers, make sure it is write-protected on a disc somewhere.
Don't rely on your amazing ability to recall all that data in ten years, let alone fifty.
