Kyoto Station, opened in 1997, is the second-largest train station building in Japan.
It incorporates a shopping mall, hotel, movie theater and
Isetan department store under one 15-story roof.
The architecture of the station exhibits many characteristics of futurism,
for example the steel frame shown on this picture.
The train station has 39 platforms and has become the most important transportation hub in Kyoto.
