This back alley was occupied by a shop for preparing meals for their staff.

Shop rents in Hong Kong are extremely high as compared to other countries.
Every inch inside a shop is fully used. Back alleys have become space for
its staff to take a short break and/or meals.

Life in one of the most densely populated city in the world. It must be suffocating there in the summer months... the heat must be unbearable. It,s like you're showing us the other side of the coin... the front has light and razzle dazzle and the back... is black and white... I'm enjoying my visit through Hong Kong. Here, the back alleys are used by the staff to... smoke. It's against the law to smoke inside public buildings, any buildings. If it's public, it means NO SMOKING.
