North Korea (The DPRK - Democratic People's Republic of Korea) is an incredible travel destination. It's not difficult to get there, just a bit expensive. Independent travellers might be somewhat frustrated by the lack of freedom since you can't go anywhere without your guides and things tend to go at their pace, not yours. For photographers, sitting waiting for the right light or the right person to walk into your photograph just isn't going to happen. It's pretty much take your snap and move on. Having said that a trip to the DPRK is a fascinating insight to a country that is managed in a completely different way to what most of us are used to.
