Took the ancient 1DS MK II and the new Panasonic LX3 I just received two days ago up the Yosemite Falls for a test, the LX3 is a pretty amazing little P&S, works as expected, except the lack of VF makes it a little painful to use in the snow for accurate composition, I tested both Manual and program mode on it, both worked pretty good even in extreme lighting condition like snow under bright sun light, as you can see on the snow scene towards the end, they were all shot in program mode with AWB, both exposure and WB came out pretty good.
The weather was great, sunny and cool, still lots of snow at around the 6000 feet elevation.
Here you can see some sample images from both the 1DS MK II and the LX3.
