San Francisco Fleet Week Air Show 2009

Here is some shots from 2009 SF Fleet week airshow, went out there Friday to do a little practice for the Sunday show, the weather was pretty nice on Friday; however,I ended up use most of the pictures from the practice run because weather on Sat. & Sun. was so crappy, and they actually canceled the show on Sat due to bad weather condition, and Sunday was much worse, so most folks didn't even bother to go out there knowing they won't fly either, but I decided to take my chance and still went out there at 9:00 AM to claim a good spot, just in case they fly, and they did, surprised everyone with a good show even the weather was so bad.

About half of the pictures here are from Friday and the other half are from Sunday, the last 21 pictures where you see no contrast, no blue sky are from Sunday, I just want to share this with friends, all 21 pictures were captured as a whole series by using the AI-Servo high speed mode, this guy sneak in front of us from nowhere while everyone was looking up the sky watching the other 4 jets doing some crazy stuffs, and the number 5 jet came in from the left silently and I kind of sense something is coming in so I pointed my camera to him and chased him all the way until I lost him in my view finder.....the whole series of 21 shots were captured within 3 seconds. The camera was also doing heck of a job for me in tracking of the plane, I made a such quick move panning my lens and almost knocked out a guy next to me who is pointing his big gun upward, I found out most people in the front row actually missed this one when we compare picture after the show, it just happened so quick, and the guy next to me said he will forgive me only if I send him the copy of those shots......Also a little sad story, saw a guy accidentally dropped his brand new 5D MK2 + 70-200 F2.8 IS in the water Friday at Pier 39 when we all got splashed by a big wave caused by few high speed motor boat playing around........
