During the 2012 Fire Season the Dunsmuir-Mott Airport supported aircraft during mop-up of the fires in the Big Bend area north of the Pit River above Lake Shasta.

In this scene an Erickson S-64 Aircrane Helitanker has circled the field and is lowering into it's landing spot for fuel and crew rest (ref Erikson Aircrane Website). Note the wedge shaped 2,650 gallon water tank (ref) and the "pond snorkle" for lifting water from rivers or lakes.
