The Texas Capitol is seven feet higher than the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington D.C.
and Texas is the only state in the nation that has the legal right to fly its flag at the same
height as the U.S. flag. This was the result of agreements worked out when the Republic of
Texas, an independent nation, agreed to merge with the United States.
