As I left Jasper NP and headed north to Fort Simpson I visited a hunting shop in Hinton, Alberta to purchase a can of bear spray. Bear spray from the United States is not allowed in at least some parts of Canada due to an ingredient the Canadian government does not allow. While in the shop the owner said a photographer could not leave the Hinton area without a side trip up to see their Cadomin Bighorn Sheep. They are supposedly the largest Bighorn anywhere, and several World record rams have been taken in the area. So, I took the 30-minute drive up towards the very small town of Cadomin, and found about 50 rams feeding alongside the road in one spot about three hundred yards across. They are much more impressive in size than the Colorado Bighorn I have seen. Three hours later, I was still photographing them as they grazed and socialized. It was a wonderful experience to have seen them!
