A male Willow Ptarmigan keeps an eye on me along Savage River in Denali National Park. The Willow Ptarmigan is the state bird of Alaska, and quite accommodating when taking pictures. All but one of this first batch is from just one of three days spending about a half-hour to hour each day photographing several families along a one-mile stretch of Savage River. There will be more posted later.
