My nearby village of Pirbright was descended on by the broadcasting media at the beginning of August 2007 reporting on the Foot and Mouth disease outbreak and its connections to the laboratories there. It was the UK's Number One story for a few days.

It gave me an opportunity to study the media circus parked up outside the labs. The resources seemed large considering we just see a minute or two of a reporter on our news bulletins. I wonder if it really needs all this!
