In October 2005, I had 24 hours in Leicester, a city in the English Midlands. It's quite different from my town further south and I tried to catch a flavour. These certainly aren't tourist pictures; they show life as it is.

Hi Ray an interesting gallery of the 'backside' of Leicester - there are some nice bits and interesting things happening but I know most of your locations here and there is - like most large cities bits that are really run down and seedy - not defending it - not my favourite city just the closest.....I've got a few on-line from the city - see what you think. best wishes Kev

You've got a great eye for interesting detail. I especially like some of the Sangra Building images, like the Cylinders and Towering and Corrugated and Entrance.

i passed on this url so some friends who said they don't even recognise the places in the photos. studying here in leicester for 2.5years now, i am perhaps a better explorer and this to me shows a very realistic view of the city, realities i often try to avoid seeing. this is expecially clear with the "city centre hangout" photo, which is something you see everytime you go downtown. excellent job.

Ray -- I love (for all sorts of reasons...) the Sangra Building sequence: very much a (sad) reflection of the decline in manufacturing in this country. Utterly real, and therefore worth a vote, I think....
