February 4 2006:
Dried

I have found very little inspiration to lift the camera today, but recently found my mother’s old bible which had been stored in my attic. I opened it up to see one or two relics of the past, including these dried flowers which were apparently used at my aunt’s and uncle’s wedding in September 1947. I think the Bible itself dates from the 1930’s.

Photoshop:
Cropped and Resized
Converted to sepia using Hue in the desaturation tool

So very beautiful. It's more than real. It's like I can reach in and touch and smell the old paper and dried flowers. Lovely and special work, GMV!

If this is what comes from a "lack of inspiration" then I wish you the same lack everyday because this is a wonderful photo. Moving, personal and beautiful. One of your best, I think.

Ray,
This put me in a pensive mood. It's a timeless reminder of our mortality.
Brilliant.

And it's not just because I love dead, dried flowers.. this is so touching.. and your use of a slight sepia briings out the memory in the image.. i feel as if there is a parchment delicately protecting it...
