I popped along to the local Classic Car rally today – its run by the Woking Hospice as part of their extremely hard-working fund raising machine.
The appeal to build a hospice in the town was raised by the then Mayor Mr. Rhod Lofting – that was 15 years ago and part of my job when working for the council was to run those very early accounts for him. To think that then I was recording the first donations of the venture and the hospice, now fully independent, has been up and running for some eight years and events like this rally and the revenues of six local shops are keeping the whole thing going. I had to stop working for the Council 18 months ago, but yet again I see myself supporting the hospice, this time as a ‘backroom’ volunteer in one of their shops.
My knowledge of cars is pretty minimal so cannot tell you too much about this extreme machine.
