January 20 2004:
Another Year Nearly Over

Back in 1998 I had the good fortune, with three others, to visit both Hong Kong and Beijing, getting a good deal through their work in the travel trade. It was a great experience, and Beijing in particular was very cheap for gifts and souvenirs. All of us came back with loads of stuff, including additional holdalls, and as I had only recently moved into a new house, my lounge soon took on a very oriental feel!
This fan was just about the most compact thing I brought back. And as Sam reminds us, the Chinese New Year starts on Thursday!

A beautiful shot.
I will be up in London tomorrow so I thought I would have a look in China Town to see what there is to see.(rain permitting)

Very pretty! I like the little shadows on the top!

This reminds me of some of the Oriental & Asian things I have . .and there's a small, heavily oiled paper umbrella that has a fragrance (I'm being polite here) that prevents me from dispalying it permanently . . . DO these fans have fragrance? It really is a lovely shot. I really like the lighting just peeking in from the side.

I agree with Angela. The lighting is perfect. Great shot.

I like this one, Ray - I like your choice of composition and the shadowing across the folds of the fan mixing with the light is great, too!
