October 23 2003: No Rooms Left

Woking, Surrey

This is The Litten Tree, which for most of its and my life was known as The Cotteridge Hotel. It was a well known landmark as you drove out of town, but now with the more centrally located Holiday Inn and Metro Hotels, its usefullness has diminished and soon we will see the construction of some appartments on this plot.

Nice idea to shoot through the fence ... interesting shot.

What a pity to lose such a lovely building. You've documented its demise well. The black and white is perfect, and the fence adds to the mood.

I can't decide whether the wire adds to or subtracts from the image. Either way it is both interesting and sad.
With my monopod I could shove the camera up to about 12ft and do hit and miss shots over the top.

Very dramatic picture.

Thats a very strongcapture - I think it would have lost a great deal of it´s magic if you had made it it colour
