October 18 2003: Downs at Dusk

South Harting, West Sussex

I spotted this scene just as I drove past the National Trust property at Uppark, not far from on the back road home from Emsworth.

I love the colors too, and the mood is sets with the shadows

Thanks Páll, It is decidely chillier and cloudier here down in southern England today. I thought the previous weekend was the last one of summer but the sun stayed out until this morning! I just love cold clear days though! ~~~Ray.

Thanks Chris: I don't know about Adrienne's dresses, but I think the tractor tracks mark the contours here and have some kind of value. The worst thing when getting the shot was avoiding the harsh shadows caused by the road's embankment on to the fields.~~~Ray.

Wonderful capture - sure brings forth the autumn mood - a bittersweet feeling of last days before winter arrives.

Try "way".

The trees are just wonderful. I like the gentle curve of the slope, but there is something about the curved tractor marks that does not work. Perhaps it is something like when Adrienne looks at a dress in M&S and what would be lovely is spoilt because the stripes go the wrong whey.
