Shillingstone

Dorset view map

My photo shows the station at Shillingstone, which was once on the Somerset and Dorset Railway which closed in 1966. Since at least 2005, a band of volunteers have been restoring the station as a visitor attraction.

Like the chapel at Hazelbury Bryan, just five miles away, the main station building here on the far also dates from 1863.

I believe my 'lost' cousin is part of the team running this project.

The village where I live was first established the same year of 1863 and our station has long gone. I like the look of Shillingstone Railway

A picture that looks like it is from a slower age. Very nice.
