Petersfield

Hampshire view map

Dominating the town square in Petersfield is this statue of King William III, also known as William of Orange. It was commissioned by Sir William Jolliffe in 1753, a man who saw William as some kind of hero as he too was a staunch protestant. William had died fifty years earlier. Other than that, he has no other connection with the town.

I thought he was Roman conquerer...A fine looking statue and it's withstood the test of time.
