Bletchingley

Surrey

Bletchingley is another settlement along the A25 and thankfully has its own little shop which appears to be independent. The village was once a 'rotten borough'which returned a member of parliament yet the population was so small it did not warrant representation at Westminster in its own right. It was also easier for the candidates to bribe the electorate. These were done away with in the 1832 act under Earl Grey (see my Newcastle shot).

An independent corner shop...a rare thing here also. A very nice clock tower in the church...though one of you are on the wrong time by 5 minutes :)
