Verney Junction, England

There are plans to re-establish the rail link between Oxford and Cambridge, but so far only a few miles at the Oxford end are in situ and have a service. This view shows part of the middle section, that for many years was only used for freight trains, but since that flow dried up, the line was abandoned. However, there is a government commitment to re-open this line so it is being protected until serious work begins. The old railway at the Cambridge end is problematical as in places it has been built over, so I suspect the project will not happen 100%.

They have recently reopened the Borders railway to Scotland. It only took 15 years.
I prefer they are left as places to walk!

You can't rush these things, especially where there's "government commitment"
