Village post offices have always been within corner shops or convenience stores (same thing). Over the years, several have closed because the Post Office have not been prepared to fund the loss and others because the Post Office cannot find a new operator. The latter is the case where I live, although an alternative one is a mile walk away and we also have four buses per hour to the main one in town.

I went into this tiny corner shop to buy a take-away coffee, but being Sunday the actual post office counter was closed. In the next village, the post office is located within the visitor centre of a tourist attraction. They seem to be in more diverse outlets these days.
