just about legal

Basingstoke, England view map

most of central Basingstoke is covered with shopping malls and I had a run-in with security today to try and understand the logic of not allowing photography.
Apparently it is because of children and terrorists which of course are totally absent from the public street....

sounds a bit like Australia, Ray. I was so surprised when I was in the Netherlands that I could take so easily photo's in the public sphere and nobody objected.
Great composition btw V

I've had similar experiences at malls. Unfortunately, it is private property and they can do as they choose. Interestingly, I see people taking pictures with cell phones all the time. But show up with a DSLR and they are on you like a mockingbird on a junebug.

LOL ~ your incident reminds me of what happened to me a few years ago at a local shopping mall!

I really like this image of the old fellow mooching along the street,
probably something he does every day of his life... v

Excellent candid! (I've been ushered out of local malls for taking photos)
