Looking at this shot, taken from Woking's complex of car parks, only the church could have been seen back in 1970. The war memorial is the second-oldest structure here, but that was originally located in 'Sparrow Park' at the other end of the town centre.

In the right foreground is Wolsey Place, our original shopping centre built on the site of a car park. This opened in about 1973. Just visible on the left is the glassed entrance to The Peacocks, our newer centre that originally opened in 1992, but had a revamped entrance built in 2010.
