I must say that I just looked at "Impending" and I otally prefer this one. Several reasons. The big open sky is totally overpowering. Its greyness has a huge impact on our feelings. I alo like that the big sky allows the photo to breathe. I like empty spaces, they add a lot to a compo. Second, I like the framing of the shot at the bottom by the two pilons and the road that runs straight through. Third, its the arrow in the back. It is my favoite part of the image. It beckons us to try and look beyond the photo. In summation, although impending is a great photo, this one for me works better.

As I said, theres a great similarity here to Koudelka's series from the Black Triangle. A feeling of desolation and melancholy that is more of a fit, for me anyway, for your project.

I see a lot of Koudelka here. Well done.

I agree...this one isn't as strong for the project as "impending"...but I still like it, so I guess it'll go into another gallery.

I'm coming back to this one - to be honest, it is too colorfull to me to really be depressive...but I do like the other take/crop of this scene! Cheers, Armin

Thats already urban depression rather than melanchloy - at least as far as I am concerned. Great image indeed!

Damn this is good. I just want to sit and look at it. A good sign. :-) Vote.
