Whitby Goth Weekend is supposed to be about horror. In my case it turned out to be real. We were to go on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Alas, a couple of hours after arriving on Friday morning, my wife Sue tripped and fell. She was quite badly hurt and we called an ambulance. She had to wait four hours in pain and in the cold. Eventually, we cancelled the ambulance and got an Uber to A&E.
One good thing though. We had some wonderful help from passers-by and local shops (providing blankets, a pillow and a chair for Sue to sit on while waiting for the non-arriving ambulance). The manager of the Duke of York pub/restaurant provided a lot of help including running to the Uber taxi that was stranded in order to drive round the closed bridge to reach us. He is the ultimate Samaritan and we are eternally grateful.
Anyway, before the catastrophe, I did get some photos. Here they are.
