For the past five summers, or so, I've visited New York to take photos. This expedition usually includes the Pride and the Mermaid Parades and the Independence Day fireworks (this year, I missed the fireworks). Sadly, despite all my begging, my wife does not accompany me because it's so hot, and often humid, in July. Moreover, when I'm in photography mode, I march around all day and spend little time relaxing. On my first day, I walked across the Queensborough bridge, all the way down First Avenue, across the Manhattan Bridge and back across the Brooklyn bridge.
Anyway, this is a collection of some of New York's obvious charms and some less obvious images.
As well as the parades, I've tried to capture street art, architecture, the zoo, and a few highlights of MoMA and MoMa PS1. There are few places with the sheer range of photographic delights that New York has.
On this trip, I used Canon cameras for the parades (fast focusing) and Olympus OM-E1 and OM-E5 for walking round (light and excellent image quality).
