You will notice that the vast majority of my images are taken abroad (i.e., outside England). Because I'm currently busy writing a book, I couldn't go abroad for my recent birthday due to lack of time (publishers are terrible people who demand manuscripts or their advance back....) So, my wife Sue dragged me off to the Lake District for a night. I was shocked by how beautiful it was - and yet it's only a two-hour drive from where I live. It's strange that I know Utah far better than my own immediate environment. As we were there (Lake Derwent) for just a few hours, we drove part of the way back the following week for a short day-trip and took some photos of Arkengarthdale. This gallery contains images from both trips.
For my birthday, my wife booked bed and breakfast at the Swinside Lodge Hotel just outside Keswick as Tripadvisor said it was good. It was excellent, and I had one of the best dinners of my life there. Still, nothing compensates for having reached 63 years. All that's left now is to hang around taking photos until the Grim Reaper pays a call...
Wonderful gallery !! Have been in this area a few years ago and indeed had the experienced like you, it was a very beautiful there. Your gallery reflects that beauty very well !! V
I accidently came across this gallery. So glad you made it to the Lake District before you carked it :-)
