Blister Beetle

Texas Canyon, Dragoon, Arizona

For a couple of weeks on my walks to work and home I noticed just one particular Mesquite bush that
was covered in little butterflies, mostly Blues. One day they were gone. The next day that same
bush was literally covered in these Blister Beetles! Just amazing. They were only there for one or
two days and then they were gone.

Great capture! Used to find these in the alfalfa hay bails - bad news for horses.

I have always been partial to black and white... so classic... and it sure makes for a good-looking bug! Just beautiful! V.

Never heard of blister beetles....interesting information you provided and great shots!

Very colorful insects! I know them from finding their dead carcases in bales of hay, but they did not look nearly so distinctive in that state. The seem to be really going after that mesquite limb! V
