It Is A Challenge

Texas Canyon, Dragoon, AZ

..no matter how many books I read or websites I visit, there are still way more
Dragonflies and Damselflies that I am unable to identify than there are those I can!
All I know for sure is, this is a beautiful Dragonfly.

Ann Pettigrew, Sam Rua and I all believe this to be a female Plateau Dragonlet, which is widespread
in the Southwestern U.S., at stream and pond edges from central Texas to Arizona, California (rarely)
and northwest Mexico.
Thank you Ann and Sam!

I think Ann's ID is correct. (Here's the link to what a male looks like:http://www.pbase.com/pegsam/image/81185352 ). Nice capture. V.

It's such a challenge to even get near them. You make it seem easy!

Neat shot, Carol. What do you think about the possibility of a female Plateau Dragonlet? They are found in SE AZ. Not sure where Dragoon is. These are so much tougher than birds!
