Why?

Can any of you tell me why those bubbles
under daisies sometimes?

Who produces this?
The daisy or some bug? Some kind of enzyme?

I meant to ask...few years ago.
I tried to find the answer but...i think IF any of you know the answer
please...humour moi. Merci.
This was taken from my 2 mega pix Coolpix :) - ages ago.

p.s. You can still comment even if you have no clue like me ;)

Agree with Steve.
Like the light here.

The bubbles are related with the temperature of their bodies.
Like gases o energy in evaporation, the bubbles are concentrated in porous areas.
Beautiful shot!

Yes. Spittle bugs. They are actually harmless. It made a great shot though!

Beautiful capture Claudia. The bubbles are from a spit bug nymph. It is actually a froth formed from the sap of the plant that the bug produces; it provides a number of things to the nymph: it is cover from predators, moderates temperature, and prevents the nymph from dehydrating.
