Mel's 1st Annual Cowtown Shoot Out 10-16-2004

We held the Mel Lammers First Annual Cowtown Shoot Out, and we had a Blast!!! There were 14 of us all together for Breakfast at the Ol' South Pancake House, and yes Andy there were German Pancakes and Dutch Babies and Brian made short work of his.

The list of folks that attended were Mel, Jerry, Sheryl, Dani, Nancy, James, Karen, Brian, Robert, Laura, Emma, Johnny, Derek, and Myself. We had a great breakfast and most of us headed for the Zoo. Brian and Robert couldn't make the actual shoot, as Brian had a wedding to shoot that afternoon and needed to get things set up. Unfortunately Sheryl, Jerry's wonderful wife, was on "Call" at the Hospital and was called to take care of a patient, she was able to join us at the Stockyards, hopefully she'll be with us for the full shoot next time. Karen and her friend Laura didn't make it either, I think they were off for secret activities (Shopping?) or destinations unknown. So the rest of us headed for the Zoo, the weather couldn't have been more wonderful, it was about 65 degrees, blue skies, and a slight breeze, talk about perfect. We stayed a the Zoo until about 2pm and then headed for the Stockyards, and of course lunch at Mel's favorite, Riscky's Bbq, after a really good lunch we walked around the Stockyards checking out all the photo op's and different things to see. Dani met Peco Bill the Longhorn, and as a Stockyard tradition had to have her picture on him ;-) We headed down to the BullRing, it is kind of a Bar/ Art Gallery. AC Cooper has assembled some of the "Finest" Early Texas Art around. He invited us to see the rest of the Collection in the Basement, to which we jumped at the chance, and AC has a fellow with a guitar down there playing, so we took pictures, relaxed and listened to the good music. We then went to one of the mystery places in the Stockyards, it's a hidden river that runs under the Stockyards main Street. Jerry had first shown it to us on the Last STF Shootout, it is really a neat place amongst all the hustle and bustle of the City. After our tour of the Stockyards we headed over to Sundance Square to look around and grab something to drink, Thanks Starbucks for the Boost. We then headed over to a bridge in Fort Worth, where again Jerry, our Shoot Location Manager, had found the perfect spot for a sunset/night shot of Downtown Fort Worth. The night was just perfect, the sun started going down and casting it's beautiful "Glow" on the skyline of Fort Worth. We then took some night shots and reflections of the New Pier One Bldg in the Trinity River, after that we headed back to Sundance Square for Dinner. We ate at Cabo's a very good Mexican Food restaruant and then headed back to take some night pictures of the Bass Hall Angels, what a beautiful evening for shooting. Reluctantly, it was time for everyone to head home, it was about 10pm, so we started with breakfast around 8:15am and ended at 10pm, it was quite a day.

To all that made it I hope you all enjoyed yourselves,I sure had a wonderful time shooting and meeting everyone, and to Mel, so glad you came back to Cowtown, and to Dani, it was nice to finally get to meet you and hope you had a good time in Cowtown and please come back and shoot with us soon.
